After a storm, every tree in the yard looks guilty. Most can wait for a scheduled look. A few can't wait an hour. What decides it is what you see on the tree and what's underneath it if it lets go. A limb already resting on the roof or the wires is today. Dead limbs over open yard are a job for this season. Tap what you see on the tree, then tell us what's under it.
What each sign usually means
- Limb on the roof or wires. Weight that has already landed can still shift. If a wire is involved, call the utility too and let the crews sort it out. Storm damage help
- Split or cracked trunk. The tree has started to fail at that point. Some split trees can be saved by taking weight off them; many over a house can't. Tree assessment
- New lean or lifting roots. A tree that leaned for thirty years is not the same as one that leaned last night. Removal next to the house

No ruts from the truck
The bucket truck's outriggers go down on plywood pads, not straight into your lawn. When the job is done, the pads come up and the grass is still grass.

Questions we get on the phone
If it's dead, badly leaning, hollow, split, or broken up by a storm, it may need to come down, especially if it's over the house, the drive or the wires. Plenty of trees that look bad can be trimmed and kept. We'll walk it with you and tell you which it is. What a tree assessment covers.
Most trees do well with a trim every two to three years, depending on the kind of tree and how fast it grows. Fast growers over a roof or a line may need it sooner. Regular trimming keeps limbs from getting big enough to do damage when they break.
Yes. We take fallen trees off houses, garages, cars and fences, clear broken limbs and hangers, and open up blocked drives after severe weather. Our normal hours are Monday to Saturday, 7 am to 8 pm, and storm emergencies can call outside those hours. If a line is down, call the utility first and stay well away from it.
We can grind it below ground level so the spot can be mowed, seeded or planted. That also gets rid of the trip hazard and the place pests like to move into. If you only want the tree down today, the stump can wait and be ground later. How stump grinding works.
It depends on the size of the tree, what's under it, how close the truck can get, and whether you want the stump ground, and what you want done with the wood. That's why we don't price trees over the phone: we come out, look, and give you a firm number in person, free.
Start with your own homeowner's insurance. In most cases a healthy tree that comes down in a storm is treated as nobody's fault, and each owner's policy covers the damage on their own property. If the tree was obviously dead or dying beforehand, the owner may be responsible, which is one more reason to deal with dead trees early. Either way, take photos before anything is moved so your insurer can see what happened, then call us to get the tree off.
